I really need to get some better post titles, I know.
These people!
The human body can withstand so much, and yet sometimes it's just like "Sorry, but this is the last straw. No more jumping off things like that. No more doing weird exercises that make no sense. No, we're done here." And then you get a huge bruise or a pulled muscle or something and realise that you need to be careful. This morning I was walking through a gate in our yard, which can sometimes be like a gigantic trap, and this big board fell on my arm. So all day it felt kind of funny and then I was like "Hm, I'll just press here and see what happens" and then it was all pain. Apparently I have something funny going on with tendons inside this nicely protective layer that is my skin (Hey, did you know that your skin is your body's heaviest organ?)
Now gutting smelts, my current occupation, is about all the arm can handle. Ahem. Anyway. Back to that then. Bye for now-

technology is sure to take over the world
A friend of ours had this sign posted to his computer, and I completely forgot about it for a while, but I think it's a wonderful thing to remember, and I shall post it on my computer soon too!

Stationary: Musings of a batty mind
Here I am again. This morning, as an early birthday present, my lovely mum brought home a pencil sharpener, fancy watercolour paper, and a gleaming black pen. Needless to say I was thrilled. What is so fascinating and wonderful about stationary? Is it the smell? The feel? The newness? The sheer number of clean white pages just waiting for scribbles and sketches of the imagination?
Aaaanyway! Speaking of birthdays. As said, mine is coming up, and I've got to get this out there: I feel like I'm still 9...or 15...or some younger age than I am! Just not 17. Odd. Also, not that I'm a genius now or anything, but I think a universal thought might be: I wish I were smarter younger.
So there are your tidbits of batty musings for the day. Go! Go be a normal person. Us non-normals will continue to puzzle life out in this corner here.

Cats (3?)
Another dream about cats! This time it was two humongous lions chasing me around. Something is very wrong here. I love cats! I really do! So why all this terror and screaming?!

Don't Break the Chain
So, all of us here (eheh!) know that when I say "I don't want to be one of those bloggers who does this" I inevitably end up doing exactly what "this" happens to be. That said, I shall now talk on a subject which I don't generally like talking about on here-myself!
Since one of my colleagues, along with the whole internet community, is doing this lovely self-reformation gig, I figured I'd give it a shot. I've tried this a few times before, making lists and things to stay focused, but maybe this time, with all these vibes floating about, I'll actually be able to accomplish some of the things I set out to do. I have one list that I found very helpful. I titled mine "I Would Like To Be...." and then under that I'll write things like "A protector of sea-life in New Zealand/the Arabian Peninsula/the Gulf," "an open mind," "a philosopher," and artsy things such as "a painter," "a photographer," etc. There's also a little explanation: This list is to remind me what some of my goals, as a person, are. It can include:

chicken thoughts #2
The other day, after a fox got our rooster as well as two chickens, and as I was toiling hopelessly (I thought) fortifying a fence against said fox (using rocks, boards, and other bits of heavy things, since foxes dig) I burst out,"Why do we even have chickens anyway! We get attached and this happens, and it's not like we're making money off it, with grain being so expensive." And my mum said, like the moral genius she is, "It's a good public service." (For fresh free-range eggs, etc.)
So, when I have kids, or, more probably, adopt, and wonder about getting chickens, I shall think of this experience and go for it! Apparently, all kids should experience chickens.

The Merry Month of May
In keeping with my plans for a May post, here are some interesting links:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/May_1
May is Lily of the Valley month.
Shame this didn't get up yesterday!
This was supposed to go up on the first, but there was a glitch. Happy Month of May, anyway!

Paintings
The other day I was thinking about painters, and how so many of the great works of art they created are scattered throughout the world. There are pros and cons to this. People get to experience an example of good painting, but imagine all of Monet's works in one big gallery. If they weren't taken away from each other, but could be seen side by side to compare and contrast. If the garden paintings in Giverny were like this, it would feel like you were actually walking through it!
