Don't add on interesting things to a bland character to try to make them seem interesting. If the character is not, at his or her chore, a fascinating character, no false opinions, no reading of grande books, no clothing styles, nothing, is going to make them seem deep, intelligent, or well-rounded. Bella reads Shakespeare, 19th century novels, and sometimes references well-renowned poems or literature. All these things have a lot of force and meaning behind them. However, Bella is quite possibly the worst female protagonist I have EVER had the misfortune to meet. Just some thoughts.
