I've had this idea for a while now. After loved ones or pets are gone, we do talk to them, whether it's in our heads, cemeteries, churches, our dreams, or like the old man in Doc Martin, who speaks to his wife every day 12 months after she's passed. So, I decided to put some of these thoughts into another tangible form-letters! I'm just going to send them out into the atmos. I don't know where they'll go, maybe they'll just reach this side, the living, and bounce around for a while. I like the idea. It's like prayer, karma, or good will, whatever you'd like to call it.
Letter No.1
Dear Mr. Elliot Smith,
I wish kind people could have gotten through to you before your demise. You are a fantastic songwriter, and your music is going to last a very, very long time. It makes a bad day better, and it fits a kaleidoscope of moods. I appreciate the messages that you got out into the world before you went, and I'm sorry that humankind created such demonic things as drugs and alcohol, because they really do no one good.
You were clearly one of those people that had a brilliant genius to your name.
With Love,
This side
